Computers have been a huge part of my life since my family was given our first second-hand computer when I was 12. Most Likely even before then, I remember doing things I wasn’t supposed to on the apple IIc computers in school going back to the 4th or 5th grade. Any chance I had to get my hands on a keyboard when I was young I did, and that has not changed much since then. Most of the skills I have acquired have been from a pure desire to know how things work. I enjoy learning new stuff, and I pick it up usually very quickly. Challenging myself is one of my favorite ways to learn.
My first experience with Linux was around the age of 16. I was at the local Walmart looking threw the computer software and I saw a magical box. Mandrake 6.5 LINUX OS, If I remember correctly it retailed for $19.99 (USD). I just knew I had to have It, that’s when TUX became one of my closest friends…
Through out the years until now, I have gained much knowledge and many skills. Most of the skills involve a keyboard and mouse, and a large amount of the knowledge involves computers. What can I say besides I really love computers, and all they can do. Linux Is by far my favorite Operating System for many reasons, and I have been using It in many “flavors” for over 20 years. I do not call myself an expert when it comes to Linux, however my experience and knowledge I believe makes me a good candidate to review the many “Distros” available.
I will be honest and say Debian Is my favorite “flavor” of Linux for many years now. The raw amount of different machines and devices I have installed and used it on is the main reason. Secondly the many uses and applications for the “Distro” is amazing. From web servers, compute nodes, coding boxes, to everyday machines and much more…
My main goal for this site is to inform, enlighten, encourage, and embrace the use and knowledge of my favorite “OS”. Hopefully some of you find what I am doing useful, and maybe some of you will try a new Operating System for the first time. Thanks to all who read my about me page to this far, and checked out my site. This is going to be fun for me, and I may just learn another thing or two along the way.
